The
Internet Career Connection is a service of Gonyea & Associates, LLC, a private
corporation based in Trinity, Florida. For decades, Gonyea & Associates
has specialized in the design and development of leading-edge career
guidance services and materials, especially electronic and Internet based
resources. Gonyea and Associates is the current version of an earlier
similar service started in the early 1980s in Manchester, NH, known then as the
New England Center for Career Development. Gonyea
& Associates is owned and operated by James and Pamela Gonyea.
About
James Gonyea...
For
38 years, James Gonyea has been a specialist in the field of career guidance
with a record of helping millions of people select a career direction in line
with their personality style, find and secure employment and advance their
career development and success. To accomplish these goals, James has held
teaching, counseling and administration positions in education; as well as a
twenty year sprint as a successful entrepreneur in the Internet (.com) industry.
James
is most recognized for his pioneering work with America Online (AOL) in the
development and management of America's first commercial online career guidance
service. From 1989 to 2001, James, with a staff of nearly 100
career experts, created the AOL Career Center (later to be known as the Gonyea
Online Career Center) and served the career and employment needs of millions of
subscribers nationwide. For his pioneering work, James was awarded AOL's
Members Choice Award for developing one of AOL's most popular services, and
became known as the "father of online career guidance."
James has also served as a consulting career
development advisor to Monster.com, Apple eWorld and Walt Disney
World, and is also a successful publisher of books, software and personal assessment
inventories on subjects ranging from career guidance, online job hunting to
starting and operating a business on the Internet.
Today, James spends his time co-managing the
Internet Career Connection website and providing career development
guidance to college students and adults at a major college in St. Petersburg,
Florida.
About
Pam Gonyea...
While not as well known to the general public,
Pam Gonyea nonetheless plays a critical role in the daily operation and overall
success of Gonyea & Associates.
Leaving a successful career as Director of
Marketing for a New Hampshire bank, Pam left corporate America to join her
husband in bringing career development services to the then fledgling Internet.
Using her business knowledge and expertise, Pam was instrumental in helping
James develop the Gonyea Online Career Center on America Online (AOL) into a
resource valued at more than $105 million dollars per year.
With a passion for detail and excellence, and a
belief in the yet unproven use of the Internet for career and employment
purposes, Pam
hand coded thousands of help wanted ads and candidate resumes and spent days and
nights uploading data using very slow modems to help create America Online's
first online Job Bank and Resume Bank.
Today,
Pamela spends her time co-managing the Internet Career Connection, as well as
operating her own successful electronic resume distribution service and enjoying
a few hours of well deserved "retirement."
